Martin Dubravka has proved to be a fantastic signing for Newcastle United, and Matt Le Tissier was full of praise for the goalkeeper.

With three goalkeepers on the books already, Dubravka seemed to be something of a surprise addition during the previous January window, with Rafa Benitez signing the stopper on loan.
He was initially left on the bench against Crystal Palace but made his debut against Manchester United and has held onto the number one spot ever since. His form was superb throughout the rest of the campaign, and it shocked no-one when his move was made permanent in the summer.
The 29-year-old has continued to impress this term, and Le Tissier suggested that Newcastle have had a lot to thank the goalkeeper for since his arrival at St James’ Park.

“He’s been outstanding since he’s come in. He’s a massive reason why Newcastle drew away from the relegation zone in the last season,” he told Soccer Saturday.
“Manchester United was his first game at home and he was unbelievable that day. And they nicked a 1-0 win and they went on to win five of his first seven games in the Premier League and that just drew them away from the relegation zone because they were bang in trouble before he turned up.”

The Chronicle reports that he cost Newcastle just £4 million in the summer. Unfortunately, because of that, he has probably done Benitez few favours as he tries to get a bumper transfer kitty as he has proved to be a sensational signing.
He surely has to be considered one of the Magpies’ best signings for a long time. And given how much money he cost, the deal to bring him to Tyneside cannot be described as anything other than a masterstroke.
