Tottenham Hotspur are a long way from challenging for the Premier League title.

Sky Sports pundit Matt Le Tissier explained why he believes that Mauricio does not need to strengthen his Spurs squad in January, when writing a column for Sky Sports, insisting that the returns to fitness of both Victor Wanyama and Toby Alderweireld are all they need.
Tottenham have enjoyed a mixed start to their 2017/18 campaign.
The totally dominated their Champions League group, finishing top of the pile, ahead of European superpowers Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund.

Their form in the Premier League has been nowhere near as spectacular, however, and they currently occupy sixth spot, 22 points adrift of league leaders Manchester City.
Many believe that Poch needs to bring in some stellar signings if his side are to challenge for major honours, but Le Tissier does not subscribe to that notion.

“I’m not sure they need to much to be fair. I just think they need to get Victor Wanyama and Toby Alderweireld fit and then they are sorted as a really strong defensive force again. It’s difficult to bring in another top-quality striker when you only play one up top because Mauricio Pochettino isn’t going to drop Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son is now contributing with more goals.”
There will surely not be many fans who agree with the former Southampton man’s claim that the Lilywhites do not need to strengthen.
As important as Wanyama and Alderweireld are to the team, there is always room for improvement, and if Spurs are to make a sustained push for major honours this season, Poch will surely have to freshen up his options in the transfer market this month, despite the Saints legend’s claim.
