Tottenham Hotspur fans are crying out for their club to make some new signings this month.

Matt Le Tissier answers questions during Gillette Soccer Saturday Live with Jeff Stelling on March 19, 2012 at the Bournemouth International Centre in Bournemouth, England.

Matt Le Tissier suggested that signing players who will be prepared to play second fiddle to the likes of Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son will be a big stumbling block for Tottenham this month, when speaking exclusively to Sky Sports.

Spurs currently have key men Harry Kane and Dele Alli out injured, and they are also without Heung-Min Son due to his participation in the Asia Cup.

Many Tottenham fans are pleading with Mauricio Pochettino to bring in some reinforcements this month, but that will be easier said than done.

And not just because January is a notoriously difficult month to sign players.

Le Tissier told Sky Sports how convincing players to join Spurs without the guarantee of regular first-team football will be a real challenge, when speaking exclusively to Sky Sports:

“If there was any position they need to strengthen, perhaps they need a top-class striker, but when everyone is back it is a pretty strong squad. That’s a big stumbling block for getting those guys that are going to come in.”

The Southampton legend does have a point.

When Kane, Dele and Son are all back, they are almost certain starters, so where would that leave any potential new signings?

That isn’t to say that Tottenham don’t need some fresh blood, however.

Pochettino must be shrewd in his player recruitment, and he might just have to look at bringing in younger players with high ceilings for improvement, rather than splashing out on established stars.
