Southampton legend Matt Le Tissier had little sympathy for Ronald Koeman losing his job at Everton.
Matt Le Tissier has told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast Show, which was broadcast on 25th October, that Ronald Koeman should have learnt that the grass isn’t always greener on the other side, after leaving Southampton to join Everton.
Koeman had a safe job at St. Mary’s, but he aggravated supporters when he opted to move to Everton in 2016.
And Le Tissier believes that if Koeman had not moved to Goodison Park, he would still be in the job at Southampton.
“It cost them about £6 million to take him away from us, so we did alright out of it. Sometimes the grass isn’t always greener on the other side,” Le Tissier said.
“By taking that job he put himself under a lot more pressure than at Southampton.
“After the two seasons he had at Southampton, if he had started the season like this, I don’t think he’d be sacked at this point. But that’s the pressure you put yourself under when you go for the money.”
Koeman lost his job at Everton earlier this week, after what has been a disastrous start to the new campaign.
Everton currently sit in 18th place in the Premier League table, and they also look set to exit the Europa League at the group stages.
The Toffees were beaten 5-2 by Arsenal in their most recent outing, and confidence appears to be very low at the Merseyside club.
Everton have now placed David Unsworth in temporary charge, as they search for Koeman’s replacement.
