Matt Le Tissier has toldSky Sports’ Soccer Saturday program. that Ayoze Perez’s prolifgate performance at St James’s Park yesterday was ‘ disappointing for Newcastle United’.

Rafael Benitez’s side were thumped 3-0 by West Ham United on Tyneside.

Javier Hernandez fired the Irons into a 1-0 half-time lead, before adding a second just after the hour mark. Felipe Anderson made it a rout in injury time.

Ayoze fluffed his lines on a number of occasions during a first half that Newcastle really should have scored.

And Le Tissier suggests that the Spanish attacker could’ve been mostly to blame for the result.

“Perez had so many chances in the first half to equalise. That’s why the centre forwards get paid all the big bucks, because scoring goals is the hardest part of football,” he told Sky Sports’ Soccer Saturday program.

“Perez proved that today. He had chances with his head, chances with his feet as well. He had a great chance with his left foot which he dragged well wide in the end.

“It was disappointing for Newcastle.”

It was a horrible result for Newcastle a big step backwards, given that Benitez’s side had won three on the bounce before Manuel Pellegrini and co came to town.

The result was made even worse by the fact that West Ham are hardly ripping up the Premier League this season, sitting 13th in the table.

Newcastle are 15th and three points above the drop zone.
