Liverpool and Arsenal played out an enthralling 5-5 draw in the EFL Cup on Wednesday night.

Matt Le Tissier has praised goalkeeper Caoimhín Kelleher for his turnaround last night as Liverpool secured a penalty shootout victory over Arsenal in the EFL Cup.
The former Southampton forward also praised Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil as he labelled him ‘sublime’ for his performance in a game that ended up finishing 5-5 after normal time.
There were mistakes galore from both sets of players, including the usually reliable James Milner, with youngster Kelleher being at fault for Arsenal’s opening two strikes.
Speaking to Soccer Special on Sky Sports (30/10/19 at 9:50 pm), Le Tissier suggested that Kelleher would have struggled to sleep had Liverpool not won that match, as he praised him for becoming the ‘hero’ when the spot-kicks were taken.
“Had Liverpool lost that game, young Kelleher would have gone home and put his head on the pillow and gone, ‘Oh my god, what have I just done?’,” Le Tissier told Sky Sports.
“He was at fault for the first two goals. As it turns out, it goes to a penalty shootout, he’s the only goalkeeper that makes a save and he’s the hero of the night.
“Defensively it was pretty shocking from Arsenal. Yes, there was some lovely play going forward and Ozil was sublime at times, but really, at the end of the day, they will be looking at it and saying ‘how can we score five goals and not win the football match’. It’s very rare.”

It’s an unbelievable experience for these Liverpool youngsters, who ended up beating and putting five past an Arsenal team that had a very experienced backline.
The Liverpool youngsters will be hoping to continue their march in this competition, as they have drawn up against fellow Premier League side Aston Villa in the next round.
The fixture is set to take place at Villa Park, but with Liverpool’s fixture list piling up in ways that is not helping their cause, there could be the possibility that the game doesn’t take place if an appropriate slot isn’t found.
