Gylfi Sigurdsson is improving for Everton, but Matt Le Tissier suggests he’s still well below expectation.
Matt Le Tissier has suggested on Sky Sports that he has been unimpressed by Gylfi Sigurdsson’s first six months at Everton.
Everton smashed their transfer record by signing the former Swansea City and Tottenham ace in a £45 million deal back in August, according to The Telegraph.
It was a transfer saga that dragged on for most of the summer and initially it looked like Sigurdsson was struggling in a major way following the big-money move.
Sigurdsson, who hit nine Premier League goals for the Swans last season, didn’t score under Ronald Koeman and only opened his account in November during a 4-1 defeat by Southampton under David Unsworth, following Koeman’s dismissal.
But the Iceland international has looked a much better player since Sam Allardyce took over at Goodison Park, scoring three Premier League goals under the 63-year-old.
But although Le Tissier acknowledges his improvement, the Sky Sports pundit suggests he is nowhere near to repaying the £45 million transfer fee.
He told Sky Sports: “He’s shown signs of improvement and there have been a few bright moments.
“Bu you would have certainly have expected more from him after the club broke their transfer record to bring him in.”
