Hugo Lloris has been a regular member of Tottenham Hotspur’s team in recent seasons.
Sky Sports pundit Matt Le Tissier has claimed that Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris is having his ‘worst season’ since he has been in England.
In 2012, Spurs secured the signature of Lloris [BBC Sport] when the now 32-year-old made the switch from his homeland of France and specifically from Ligue 1 outfit Lyon.
Since then, his reputation in England has grown as he has received wide praise for his performances in recent campaigns, with the Frenchman winning the World Cup last summer.
Nonetheless, former Southampton striker Le Tissier explained why Spurs’ key man between the sticks has been finding it tough in recent months.
“It has probably been his worst season since he has been in England,” Le Tissier told Soccer Saturday on 02/02/2019.
“I have always been a huge fan of his, but I think he has had issues off this pitch as well. But there is certainly more hesitation about him. There is not an air of confidence about him like there has been these last few years.”
Over the course of this season, Lloris has played 21 Premier League matches for his side, conceding 19 goals and securing nine clean sheets along the way, according to transfermarkt.
He most recently kept a clean sheet when Mauricio Pochettino’s side secured a narrow 1-0 win [BBC Sport] over relegation-threatened Newcastle at the weekend.
Despite Lloris’ supposed problems, Tottenham are still sitting in the top four of the Premier League table and they have a Champions League double-header against Borussia Dortmund to look forward to this month.
Before that encounter, the north London club will host Claude Puel’s Leicester City this Sunday before welcoming the German giants to their back yard.
