Matt Le Tissier believes that Sunderland, Hull City and Middlesbrough will all be relegated this season.

Matt Le Tissier has told Sky Sports that he believes Sunderland, Hull City and Middlesbrough will all be relegated from the Premier League this season.

The top flight table is beginning to take shape, after 10 games have been played, and Sunderland, Hull and Middlesbrough are all struggling.

The trio are all currently in the bottom six, after finding it hard to pick up victories over the season so far.

Sunderland are the worst placed of any side, and have now made the worst start in Premier League history.

The Black Cats have taken just two points so far, and already sit well adrift of safety.

Hull, meanwhile, have also started to drop down the table after making an encouraging start.

The Tigers won their first two matches, but have not picked up a victory since and they currently sit in 18th spot.

Middlesbrough, on the other hand, are outside the relegation zone as things stand – but Le Tissier fears that their struggles going forward will mean that Aitor Karanka’s side will be relegated.

“I don’t think you’ll find anyone who will say Sunderland will escape at the moment,” the Southampton legend said.

“They’ve gone to the well too many times and I think it will be a step too far.

“My second choice is Hull. I just don’t think they’ve got the strength in depth to see them through the season.

“If you’d asked me 10 days ago I would’ve said Middlesbrough 100 per cent and, while they’re still just in there for me, they’ve shown signs of life.

“They looked clueless against Watford, but then could have beaten Arsenal last weekend and got a win against Bournemouth, but I do still think they’ll struggle for goals.”
