Southampton legend Matt Le Tissier has been in the eye of the storm after taking a sly dig at Liverpool on Twitter. The former England international suggested, with his tongue firmly in cheek, that Liverpool should sell Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona, given the Blaugrana are reportedly willing to test Liverpool’s resolve with a £80million bid for the Brazilian (as reported by Mirror).

With Saints defender Virgil van Dijk subject of similar interest from the Reds (as reported by Daily Mail), the Premier League legend only thought it was justifiable to compare the two moves.
With Liverpool fans understandably riled up, one of them took a dig right back at the former England international.
But, Matt Le Tissier had the last laugh, telling the fan that Liverpool were interested in signing him, but he elected to stay at the Dell.
Le Tissier one of the finest English attacking midfielders of his generation was affectionately called ‘Le God; by Southampton fans due to his loyalty to the Saints. He was the first midfielder to notch up 100 goals in the Premier League era, and some might say, would have added something different to Liverpool teams of the late 1990s.
