Liverpool are being linked with a move for Southampton midfielder Mario Lemina.

Pundit Matt Le Tissier has taken to Twitter to react to the latest reports that Liverpool are interested in snapping up Southampton midfielder Mario Lemina at the end of the season.

Southampton swooped to land Lemina from Juventus over the summer, paying around £18million (The Guardian) to secure his signature in a then-club-record deal for the Saints.

The Gabon international has played in 20 Premier League games for the Saints, scoring just the one goal – but it was a long-range thunderbolt in a crucial 3-2 win over West Bromwich Albion.

Now, it seems that the former Marseille man is attracting major interest, as L’Equipe report that Liverpool ‘love’ Lemina and could launch a summer move to sign the midfielder.

Liverpool already have Naby Keita arriving this summer from RB Leipzig, but with Emre Can on his way out of Anfield when his contract expires, Lemina may be viewed as a player who can play both in front of the back four and as a box-to-box player.

Southampton will surely be sick of the sight of Liverpool by now, as since the summer 2014 transfer window, they have seen Dejan Lovren, Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert, Nathaniel Clyne, Sadio Mane and Virgil van Dijk all leave the club for Anfield.

Lemina could be the next to join that list if Jurgen Klopp gets his way, but Southampton legend and current pundit Matt Le Tissier has joked that the Reds need to look elsewhere.

Having raided Southampton for so many players in recent years and now targeted another one, Le Tissier has taken to Twitter to suggest that it’s not Lemina that Liverpool need, it’s the Southampton scouts who find these players before eventually selling them on for major profit – often to the Reds.
