Leeds United youngster Harvey Sutcliffe has put pen to paper on a professional deal at Elland Road and underlined his delight with a touching post on Instagram – prompting Matt Kilgallon and Charlie Cresswell to react.
Sutcliffe, 18, has agreed a contract that will last until the summer of 2024. It comes after impressing in the Under-23 side this season, playing 11 of his 14 appearances for the second string during the 2021-22 campaign.

Previously, he was a regular in the Under-18 side and now has a total of 45 appearances for both sides. For the forthcoming season, he will be looking to establish himself in the Under-23 side who play in Premier League 2.
Following news that Sutcliffe had agreed a two-year deal with Leeds, Sutcliffe took to Instagram on Tuesday – thanking Leeds for the chance to play under a professional contract at Elland Road, posing alongside Victor Orta.

What will have tempted Leeds into handing Sutcliffe a professional deal is the defender’s ability to play anywhere across the back line. Naturally a right-back, he has also been seen in the middle and at left-back.
Mostly under Marcelo Bielsa, but also under Jesse Marsch, Leeds players have been used in numerous different positions. If Sutcliffe wants to break into the senior side, he must be able to offer options in numerous areas.
A big season ahead for Sutcliffe as he looks to establish himself in the 23’s. Of course, with a view to getting on the first-team bench. Cresswell, who has joined Millwall on loan, and ex-Whites ace Kilgallon responded, among others.
