Matt Holland is a big fan of the Leeds United player.

Matt Holland has told talkSPORT that Leeds United’s Pablo Hernandez is the Championship’s best player in his opinion.

The Spanish playmaker is enjoying a brilliant season at Elland Road, scoring eight and setting up 11 goals in 26 Championship starts.

Former Athletic Bilbao, Marseille and Argentina boss Marcelo Bielsa said earlier this season that Hernandez is one of the most gifted players that he’s ever worked with [BBC Sport].

And an enthused Holland says that is the measure of the 33-year-old.

Holland told talkSPORT: “Another one at Leeds for me, Pablo Hernandez. I think he’s been excellent. What about his goal against West Brom, no backlift.

“In fact, Bielsa has said that he’s one of the best players in his position that he’s ever worked with in his career. Think about the players he’s worked with! That’s what he said about him.”

Hernandez is a very fine player and it would be interesting to see how he does in the Premier League again, if Leeds do win promotion.

The former Swansea City ace has previously proven himself good enough for England’s top flight, but his last game in that division came nearly five years ago.

Bielsa’s side sit second in the Championship with 11 games to go.
