Matt Fitzpatrick is in great shape after the first round of the RBC Heritage.
The RBC Heritage is Fitzpatrick’s favorite stop on the PGA Tour and he has won here before, back in 2023.
So it’s no surprise that he posted a fine opening round of 65 at Harbour Town Links on Thursday.
The 31-year-old Englishman has been in fine form on the PGA Tour so far in 2026, with a win at the Valspar Championship and a runner-up finish at The Players Championship to his name.
Fitzpatrick will now be hoping to add to those impressive results with a win at the RBC Heritage this week.

Matt Fitzpatrick has become one of the most clutch players in the world over the past few years.
When he has a chance to win, he never backs down.
Matt Fitzpatrick achieves career-first on day one of the RBC Heritage
Fitzpatrick played alongside world number one, Scottie Scheffler, on day one of the RBC Heritage.
The Englishman beat Scheffler by three strokes but the golf they both played wasn’t that much different.
Where Fitzpatrick separated himself from the 29-year-old from Dallas was on the greens.
Incredibly, the three-time PGA Tour winner only took 20 putts during his round on Thursday.
That is the lowest number of putts Fitzpatrick has ever had in 620 rounds on the PGA Tour throughout his career so far.

The all-time record was set by Cam Smith at the FedEx St. Jude Invitational in 2021, when the Australian had just 18 putts.
Who knows, the way that Matt Fitzpatrick rolls his rock, he may well tie that record one day.
Matt Fitzpatrick on the biggest improvement in his game
Despite his sensational putting on day one at Harbour Town, it is actually Fitzpatrick’s approach play that has taken him to another level over the past six-nine months.
The Englishman spoke just after his win at the Valspar last month about how he has improved his iron play.
“There’s a big difference in my approach play,“ Fitzpatrick admitted.
“My irons are just so much better. Just better control, better distance control, better accuracy left-to-right. Hitting the shape that I want to hit.
“Me and Mark Blackburn had a great session last Thursday afternoon after the round, a really, really good session that felt like really, really helped me.
“It’s made a big difference over the last seven rounds of golf I’ve played. I hit my irons really well. I know going into today I think I was first in approach play for the first three rounds.
“I don’t know where I ended up finishing, but that’s a big difference from where I’ve come from in the past.
“I always felt like short game’s been good enough, felt like my driving’s always been good enough and putting’s been good enough.
“So approach play always felt like it was the missing link. So far this year it’s been really good and last year it was really good as well. So just about continuing that and keep improving as much as I can and giving myself more opportunities.“
