Arsenal captain Laurent Koscielny has not travelled to the US.

Arsenal fans were stunned to read a club statement last week revealing Laurent Koscielny had refused to travel on the tour to USA.

The club captain is keen to leave the club, and his decision has been roundly criticised, while Arsenal too have received flak for dealing with the situation so publicly.

Koscielny’s former teammate Mathieu Flamini has now weighed in.

Sending a public message to Kosicelny on Instagram, Flamini gave the centre-back his support and said he hopes the situation can be resolved amicably.

Koscielny evidently feels strongly about his decision. It’s tough to know whether he is truly in the wrong, depending on what promises were made to him behind the scenes.

Both club and player could have handled the situation better, as Kosicelny is now in a position where it appears there is no way back for him.

He must bear some responsibility for that.
