Huddersfield Town defender Mathias Jorgensen has told BT in Denmark that he has no idea whether Celtic actually want to sign him or not.

The Bhoys are facing a rebuilding job this sumner, and it’s imperative that Neil Lennon brings in at least one central defender this summer, even with Jozo Simunovic’s fine recent form.

Dedryck Boyata is heading to Hertha Berlin on a free transfer, and with loanee Filip Benkovic returning to Leicester City, Celtic are losing two international centre backs for nothing.

Adding an experienced defender to work alongside talented youngster Kristoffer Ajer would be ideal, and the name of Jorgensen has popped up this week in bizarre circumstances.

A document was leaked earlier this week claiming to show notes from a Celtic transfer meeting, listing a host of transfer targets for Lennon’s side this summer.

Celtic are investigating the leak, and there isn’t even any sort of confirmation that the document is legitimate, but it’s certainly got fans talking this week.

One name on the list was Jorgensen, and he’d tick the boxes as an experienced defender, whilst he may be up for a move having just suffered relegation from the Premier League with Huddersfield.

Now, the 29-year-old Dane has now responded to the link, admitting he doesn’t even know if it’s true or not, playing down the situation by suggesting he doesn’t want to talk about it – but most Celtic fans would surely love to see him sign this summer.

“I can’t discuss whether that is ‘legit’ or not, so I don’t really want to talk about that,” said Jorgensen.
