Manchester United’s opening fixtures for the 2025/26 Premier League season have been confirmed — and they’re anything but straightforward.

New manager Ruben Amorim won’t get much time to ease into the job, with the schedule throwing up a tough run of games to start the campaign. United kick off at Old Trafford against Arsenal before facing three more tricky opponents in the opening month.

By the time the season kicks off, United are likely to have a few new signings in the squad. As things stand though, only Matheus Cunha has been confirmed. The Brazilian forward arrives from Wolves and will be hoping to make an immediate impact.

If United can put together a strong start, it could go a long way to settling any early nerves around Amorim’s side. Here’s how the opening five fixtures look:

Matheus Cunha’s record vs Arsenal

New signing Matheus Cunha has played in the Premier League for Wolves over the past two-and-half seasons.

Cunha’s record against Arsenal is not the best, however, and one he will be looking to rectify.

Matheus Cunha’s record vs Fulham

Matheus Cunha’s record against Fulham is more encouraging, at least on an individual level, with four goal contributions in four games.

Matheus Cunha’s record vs Burnley

Cunha has played against Burnley previously, during their last stint in the Premier League in 2023/24.

Matheus Cunha’s record vs Manchester City

United will face City after the international break in September, which could cause issues considering Cunha’s duties with Brazil.

Cunha has a very poor record against Pep Guardiola’s side that he will be desperate to correct, yet to score against them in seven matches.

Matheus Cunha’s record vs Chelsea

Chelsea are an opponent Matheus Cunha has relished playing against, and let’s hope this can continue. He has five goal contributions in five games.
