Mateusz Klich’s performance for Leeds United against Burnley may just have shown why Thomas Christiansen was happy to sell Liam Bridcutt to Nottingham Forest earlier this summer.

Eyebrows were raised when Bridcutt was made available by Leeds, and was subsequently sold. Bridcutt, after all, had played an important role for the Whites last term – and looked to be one of their most talented midfielders.

However, Klich’s showing against Burnley highlighted why Christiansen felt that Leeds now had enough cover to cope with Bridcutt’s departure.

Klich showed brilliant composure in possession, and also discipline without the ball, as Leeds went to the Premier League side’s home ground and won.

The Polish international, who joined Leeds for a £1.5 million fee according to FourFourTwo, may not have had many opportunities to impress yet since moving to Elland Road, but his display on Tuesday night proved his quality.

And Leeds fans should no longer have any concerns about the depth they have in midfield, as Klich looks to have the capabilities to be a real star as the season progresses.
