The Leeds United ace has been in superb form so far this season.
Leeds United midfielder Mateusz Klich sat down for an exclusive interview with Polish media outlet Sportowy, and shared how much he believes he has evolved and matured as a player under the guidance of his manager Marcelo Bielsa.
The 28-year-old joined the Whites from FC Twente in the summer of 2017, but struggled to make an impact at Elland Road initially, spending the second half of last season away from the club on loan with FC Utrecht.
The 10-capped Poland international is an orthodox central midfielder by trade, but he seems to have added another string to his bow under Bielsa’s tutelage, racking up three goals and an assist in the six Championship games he has played so far this season.
Klich spoke exclusively to Polish publication Sportowy, and highlighted how he is a far more well-rounded player now than he was four years ago, singling out Bielsa’s influence as a major contributing factor behind his improvement:
“I have matured as a player. I think I can give the team more than I could have four years ago. My career is a lot of ups and downs. I have had a lot of experience, I have gathered a lot of experience. Now I have the pleasure to work with an outstanding trainer, Marcelo Bielsa. He opened my eyes to many things.”
Next up for Leeds is a trip to Millwall on September 15th, and Klich will have to be at his very best once again, if Bielsa’s men are to have any chance of returning to west Yorkshire with anything to show for their efforts.
