Leeds United midfielder Mateusz Klich has told Foot Truck that he wishes he had worked with Marcelo Bielsa 10 years ago.

Klich is enjoying working under Bielsa, and the 29-year-old Poland international midfielder has suggested that he could have been a much better footballer had he worked under the Argentine when he was younger.

Klich told Foot Truck, as translated by Meczyki: “I wish I had met him ten years earlier because I would probably have been in a different place. He opened my eyes to a few things. He doesn’t even have a minute of loosening.

“You always have to be one hundred percent, you always have to give your best. It’s very hard at training. But I need a trainer who stands above me with a whip.

“He said my CV does not reflect what I should achieve in football. The clubs I’ve played in should be different.”

Leeds United spell

Klich joined Leeds from FC Twente in 2017, but he only started to play well for the Whites since last season after returning from a loan spell at FC Utrecht.

The 29-year-old has established himself as an important player for Leeds, and his importance for the team will only grow in the coming weeks and months.

According to WhoScored, Klich has scored one goal and provided one assist in 11 Championship appearances for Leeds so far this season.

During the 2018-19 campaign, the Poland international scored 10 goals and provided nine assists in 48 Championship matches for the Whites, according to WhoScored.

Leeds finished third in the Championship table last season and are aiming to clinch automatic promotion to the Premier League this time around.
