Mateusz Bogusz joined Leeds United during the January transfer window and is making a real impact for the under-23s.

Mateusz Bogusz has told Przeglad Sportowy that he gets called up to train with the Leeds first-team almost every day following his January move to Elland Road.
Bogusz was one of just two players to join the Whites during the winter window. While Kiko Casilla was immediately deemed to be a fantastic addition to the first-team, there was more intrigue surrounding the deal for the 17-year-old midfielder.
Leeds have uncovered some real gems in the market over the last couple of years, and Bogusz’s arrival in such a quiet window hinted that the Championship high-flyers had extremely high hopes for the teenager.
And the fans have taken little time to get seriously excited about Bogusz’s potential. His first appearances for the under-23s have seen the former Ruch Chorzow ace attract a lot of attention, and it now appears to be a matter of time before Marcelo Bielsa is handing him a senior debut.

And it seems that that bow in front of the Elland Road faithful may be even more imminent, as Bogusz explained that he is now working much closer with the Leeds boss.
“Officially I am still a youth player, but in practice almost every day someone from the first team comes to me and takes with me some teammates for training with Marcelo Bielsa,” he told Przeglad Sportowy.

The Whites’ position in the promotion race should make it seem less likely that his debut will come this season. The pressure is unlikely to let up until the campaign has concluded, so most managers would probably want to avoid handing Bogusz his debut when so much is riding on every fixture.
However, Bielsa has shown that he thinks about the game differently to most, and he has not hesitated to use the pool of under-23 starlets available to him throughout the campaign.
So, while Tyler Roberts is currently performing well in the number 10 role, perhaps it would be foolish to write off Bogusz’s chances of making his first-team debut before the end of the season.
