Mateusz Bogusz is already looking to the prospect of making his Leeds United debut.

New Leeds United winger Mateusz Bogusz has revealed to his former club’s official website that he didn’t hesitate to join the Elland Road side when the call came.

The 17-year-old winger was the second of two January signings made by Leeds last month, signing from Polish outfit Ruch Chorzow.

Bogusz signed a two-and-a-half year deal with the Championship outfit [Sky Sports], but will not be in contention for a senior spot this season and will only feature for the Under-23s.

It looks like the youngster might have to wait until next season for his Leeds debut, but it’s an occasion that Bogusz is already looking forward to.

“I always wanted to move forward and grow. When there was a chance to leave, I definitely wanted to try my hand. I just took another step forward,” he told Ruch’s website.

“The next step will be to debut in the first team. Somehow I’ve never had big dreams. I just always wanted to play football because I love it.”

Bogusz is certainly at the right club for his development. He might only be 17, but so was Jack Clarke when he made his Whites debut earlier this season and now look at him.

Clarke has come on leaps and bounds under Marcelo Bielsa in a very short space of time, and that simply has to excite the young Pole, who will ‘participate in first-team activities’ [Ruch website]. That means he’ll be under the watchful eye of the renowned Argentine coach.

Quite a few of the players that Leeds have signed as Under-23 prospects during Victor Orta’s 18-month reign haven’t quite made the step up to the seniors, and most never will, but Bogusz has his destiny in his own hands.
