Tottenham Hotspur may have received a boost in pursuit of both Mateo Kovacic and Tanguy Ndombele today.

Mateo Kovacic scores in the first half of the Real Madrid vs Barcelona International Champions Cup friendly match at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida, on July 29, 2017.

Tottenham Hotspur’s chances of signing both Mateo Kovacic and Tanguy Ndombele may have been boosted today, and if they both arrive in north London this summer then it will completely transform Mauricio Pochettino’s side’s midfield.

According to AS Sport, Kovacic has asked to leave Madrid, while Lyon appear to be on the verge of signing a replacement for Ndombele in the shape of Jean-Eudes Ahoulou, as reported by Le 10 Sport.

Tottenham have been linked with both Ndombele and Kovacic this summer (Sky Sports), meaning today’s news will definitely not have gone unnoticed by Pochettino.

And if Spurs can bring them both to the club this summer, then their midfield will look a lot more dynamic next season.

Tottenham’s current midfield pairing of Mousa Dembele and Eric Dier is already very solid, but Ndombele and Kovacic would make Spurs a much more dynamic threat.

Dembele and Dier have many qualities, but their ability to get around the pitch is not a strength.

Ndombele and Kovacic, on the other hand, are tireless with their work-rate and can operate in both boxes.

Tottenham would have unbelievable energy in midfield with the pair, which could allow them to press opposition sides better.

And by signing both Ndombele and Kovacic, Spurs would be changing style significantly next term.
