Pundits Ian Wright and Danny Murphy told BBC Sport’s Match of the Day (29/11/2017) that they were impressed with Burnley striker Chris Wood against Bournemouth.
After suffering late heartbreak against Arsenal on Sunday, Burnley headed to the South Coast on Wednesday night in order to take on a Bournemouth side who drew 0-0 at Swansea over the weekend.
Burnley’s away form has been superb this season, and they were at it again at the Vitality Stadium, as Chris Wood put Sean Dyche’s men in front after Robbie Brady’s shot had been kept out.

Brady made it 2-0 in the second half with a superb right-footed effort, and whilst Joshua King pulled one back for the Cherries, Burnley held out for the 2-1 win.
Brady stole the show with a goal and an assist, but striker Wood was the one earning praise from pundits after the final whistle.
Wood, 25, joined the Clarets over the summer after scoring 30 goals for Leeds last season, and his latest strike for Burnley means he has now scored four goals in 10 Premier League games this season.
After the game, pundit Ian Wright told BBC Sport’s Match of the Day (29/11/2017) that he felt Wood was ‘ponderous’ during the Confederations Cup, but he felt the striker was ‘brilliant’ against Bournemouth, praising his hold-up play as well as his goal.
Fellow pundit Danny Murphy also raved about Wood, having ‘bashed up’ Tottenham defenders earlier this season, and even joked that the £15million Burnley paid to sign Wood from Leeds earlier this season was ‘cheap’ in just an overpriced market.
“I watched Chris Wood in the Confederations Cup for New Zealand, and he looked a little bit ponderous – maybe it was the opposition he was up against – but you saw flashes of being a focal point,” said Wright. “So many times you see players losing the ball, but he’s bringing his team, getting the team playing. He’s a real willing runner, and watching him now, he looks so much sharper and more aware. Brilliant play today.”
“I think he knows how to play the role really well. He came on at Spurs for Burnley earlier in the season and changed the game, got the goal when they didn’t have a hope, he bashed up the centre halves that day. He’s got real potential, a real clever signing that was – £15million is cheap these days!” added Murphy.
