Some Newcastle United fans have been calling for Eddie Howe to retrain Joelinton as a midfielder after his performance against Norwich on Tuesday.
The Magpies went down to 10 men early on against the Canaries this week, and that meant that Howe had to reshuffle his pack.
Joelinton played as a makeshift midfielder, and, much to the surprise of almost everybody, he was brilliant.
The Brazilian played with incredible energy and aggression, he ran his socks off and his physical attributes made him quite the force in the middle of the park.
United fans saw this and they think that he could do a job in the middle of the park on a permanent basis.
To be honest, it may be worth a try, Joelinton hasn’t been much use as a number nine since he arrived at St James’ Park, scoring just seven goals in 82 league appearances, but he does have some talents that could be utilised in the midfield.
This may be a situation worth keeping an eye on.
