Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal and Ange Postecoglou’s Celtic have missed out on the signing of Mat Ryan.
Mat Ryan signs for Real Sociedad
Ryan has joined Real Sociedad from Brighton and Hove Albion.
The Australia international goalkeeper has signed a two-year contract with La Liga outfit Sociedad.
Arsenal and Celtic miss out
This means that both Arsenal and Celtic have missed out on the signing of Ryan.
The Gunners and the Hoops were linked with moves for the 29-year-old in the summer transfer window.
Sky Sports reported last month that Arsenal are interested in signing Ryan on a permanent deal this summer.
The Australian spent the second half of last season on loan at Arsenal from Premier League rivals Brighton.

Ryan subsequently said that he would love to return to the North London club for next season and beyond.
Sky Sports also claimed in June that Celtic manager Postecoglou wants to sign Ryan.
Postecoglou worked with Ryan with the Australia national team.
Ryan’s move to Sociedad means that Arsenal and Celtic will now have to look elsewhere for a new goalkeeper.
Mat Ryan happy
As for Ryan himself, he seems very happy with his decision, as shown below in his tweet.
When translated from Spanish, the tweet reads: “Very happy to be part of a great club such as the @RealSociedad. Looking forward to meeting my new teammates and you, aficion. AURRERA REALA !!!”
