Celtic secured their first win of the UEFA Europa League group stage, with £3m signing David Turnbull playing a role in the 2-0 victory.
The 2020 arrival guided in a scrappy goal which went down as a Balint Vecsei own goal nine minutes from time. Kyogo Furuhashi had opened the scoring earlier in the half after a sensational assist from Jota.
Indeed, Turnbull, overall, played well at Celtic Park against the Hungarian champions Ferencvaros. The Daily Record awarded the Scottish youngster a 7/10 rating as Ange Postecoglou’s finally secured points in their Europa League group stage.
The result will be a huge relief for the Scottish giants. Celtic lost their opening two European group stage fixtures which saw them joint bottom of the standings alongside Ferencvaros.
And for Turnbull, it was a good display from the former Motherwell star. Whilst his strike didn’t go down as a goal for him, his willingness to extend Celtic’s lead can be admired.
With the midfielder impressing under Postecoglou, Turnbull is developing well this season for Celtic. And his performance last night was praised by supporters.
