Luke Shaw scored his first senior goal on Friday night as Manchester United beat Leicester City 2-1 in the Premier League opener.

Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw scored his first senior goal as the Red Devils beat Leicester City 2-1 at Old Trafford on Friday. The 23-year-old scored United’s second – after a Paul Pogba penalty had opened the scoring – and Manchester United fans couldn’t been happier for Shaw.
The former Southampton graduate put in the type of performance that was reminiscent of his time on the south coast; charging forward at every opportunity and covering well defensively.
Even boss Jose Mourinho can’t begrudge the performance of Shaw who looked lively and focused throughout.

The Portuguese manager had previously criticised Shaw for his lack of commitment and apparent weight issues.
Shaw’s goal itself had a touch of class about it, as it momentarily looked like his first touch to knock the ball over the defender had evaded him. But the full-back managed to steer the ball across Kasper Schmeichel’s goal and inside the far post.

It was a good finish from Shaw and United fans celebrated on Twitter, praising the £30 million man after finally breaking his duck. It’s been a long time coming from Shaw and hopefully this acts as a springboard for his future.
