Speaking on his YouTube channel, Rio Ferdinand has been discussing Antonio Rudiger as his contract winds down.
The German will be able to leave on a free in the summer, and he’s been linked to Tottenham Hotspur.
However, Ferdinand believes that the centre-back won’t come cheaply, claiming that the defender must be asking for crazy money if Chelsea haven’t decided to re-sign him yet.
What’s Ferdinand said?
The pundit gave his view on the Rudiger situation.
“He must be asking for crazy money. He’s going for a free, so he can as for 10, 15, 20 million up front and massive wages as well. He must be thinking ‘if you’re going to replace me, you might have to buy Kounde from Seville, give me 10, 15 or 20 million and big wages and you’re still better off than buying Kounde maybe.’ I don’t know, Chelsea might say that they can’t be doing that,” Ferdinand said.

Worth it
If Rudiger is asking for around £20m as a signing on fee, that still represents a bargain for a team like Spurs.
Think about it, Tottenham would probably have to spend double that amount to sign a quality centre-back from another club, and it’ll be hard to find someone who’s as good as Rudiger.
The German is proven in the Premier League and already settled in London, this would be a brilliant signing if Spurs could manage to convince Rudiger to join.
