Jamie Carragher has told the Telegraph that reported Liverpool target Jude Bellingham could have a big role to play for England at Euro 2020.
Bellingham was named in England’s squad for the upcoming international, despite just being 17-years-old.
The eyes of a nation will now be on the midfielder, who is said to be on Liverpool’s wishlist.
EuroSport claimed last month that Jurgen Klopp’s side are taking a look at the teenager, who could potentially come in as a replacement for Georginio Wijnaldum.
And Carragher feels that Gareth Southgate’s decision to put the youngster in the Three Lions squad, despite his tender years, just shows how much trust he already has in the Borussia Dortmund man.
“The midfield addition which most excites me is Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham,” Carragher said.
” To take a 17-year-old is a massive statement, but anyone who saw his performance against Manchester City in the Champions League could see he has the temperament to go with the talent.
“He does not strike me as a player being taken for the experience. He is good enough to play a big role. Circumstances may determine he should.”
Bellingham arguably doesn’t have the hype around him that a player of his ability should, as he has been impressing in Germany.

However, that may help him in the long run, as he goes into the tournament with little pressure.
If Bellingham was to make a move to Liverpool this summer then immediately the attention on him would ramp up considerably.
But it seems that his talents will only remain under the radar for a little while longer, either way.
Bellingham looks almost certain to be a superstar for club and country in the next few years, and the Euro’s could well be his breakout moment, if he is given game time.
Interestingly, with Liverpool’s Jordan Henderson in the squad, he may well be in competition with the Reds’ captain for a starting place.
