‘Massive signing’: Enrique reacts to Liverpool possibly getting star Haaland loves
Jose Enrique has acknowledged that Jude Bellingham to Liverpool would be a ‘massive signing’ for the Anfield outfit, but conceded that he doesn’t believe it’ll materialise.
Liverpool have been heavily linked with a move for the Borussia Dortmund sensation in recent months.
According to The Mirror, the Reds are actually in pole position to sign the £90 million-rated England international.
Still only 18, Bellingham was named by Four Four Two as the world’s most promising teenage footballer in February.
However, despite the speculation, former Liverpool defender Enrique cannot see it happening.
He told Caught Offside: ““I don’t think there’s any chance that we’ll sign Bellingham, in my opinion. It would be a massive signing, but I don’t think Liverpool is going to pay this kind of money. The only time we did it was with Van Dijk and Alisson. I don’t think it’s an option.”
Well, it’s certainly possible.
But Enrique is definitely right in saying that Liverpool don’t often spend massive sums of money.
Okay so they got Luis Diaz for £49 million in January.
However, the truth is that the Reds and Jurgen Klopp do need a player like Bellingham and if that’s the price for a generational talent, well exceptions might be made.
Liverpool still haven’t replaced Georginio Wijnaldum and with Jordan Henderson and Thiago over 30, and Naby Keita hit and miss fitness-wise, midfield is a priority position for the German manager to strengthen.
Bellingham is a supreme talent, labelled ‘amazing‘ by Erling Haaland last year and despite his valuation, indeed it’s definitely possible.
