Massive signing… Cenk Tosun reacts to Everton’s deal for Theo Walcott

Everton have added Theo Walcott as their second January signing.

Everton striker Cenk Tosun has told the London Evening Standard that he thinks new signing Theo Walcott is a ‘great, proven player’.

The Toffees swooped to make Tosun their first January signing almost two weeks ago, with manager Sam Allardyce landing the Besiktas hitman as his first addition as Everton boss.

Allardyce may have added one attacker to his side, but after failing to register a single shot on target against Tottenham Hotspur, another forward has been targeted.

Sky Sports report that Arsenal’s Theo Walcott has agreed a three-and-a-half-year deal with Everton, sealing a £20million move to Goodison Park.

Walcott, 28, has spent the last 12 years with the Gunners following a 2006 move from Southampton, racking up over 100 goals and nearly 400 appearances in all competitions.

The forward hasn’t started a single Premier League game this season, and after years of frustration in terms of being used either wide or up front, Walcott is now leaving the Emirates Stadium.

Allardyce will hope that Tosun and Walcott can provide the goals that Everton need, with Walcott set to bring the pace that Everton have been lacking so far this season.

Now, Tosun has told the London Evening Standard that he thinks Walcott is a ‘great player’, praising his pace and his crossing whilst calling him a ‘massive signing’ for Everton.

“Theo is a great player, proven player,” said Tosun. “He’s done really well for Arsenal. He’s really fast, he’s a great crosser. I would say it’s a massive signing for us and I think I’d link up well with him. I’m sure if we sign him he would have a great input,” he added.
