Paul Merson thinks Tottenham Hotspur transfer target and Brighton midfielder Alexis Mac Allister will secure a ‘massive move’ in 2023.

The 24-year-old is still celebrating Argentina’s World Cup win and Merson added that when he returns ‘people will be watching him’.

Prior to the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, Mac Allister was receiving rave reviews for his performances in Brighton colours, which opened the door for him to become an Argentina International, and then get picked for Lionel Scaloni’s World Cup squad.

Well, Mac Allister has just been on a journey of a lifetime, one he will never forget and one that has now seen him receive legendary status in his country.

It has also resulted in a lot of transfer interest for the all-action midfielder and Merson thinks, if his attitude is right, then that move will come, as he told Soccer Special on Sky Sports.

“They (Brighton) churn them out, don’t they,” said Merson. “Their scouting system is second-to-none when you are reeling it off.

“He will have to come back (from his World Cup celebrations). People will be watching him for the next three or four games to see where his attitude is and where his head is.

“If he keeps performing the way he is, then I think he will be getting a massive move at the start of next season.”

TOTTENHAM’S INTEREST IN MAC ALLISTER

Antonio Conte is keen on adding the £7 million star to his ranks and it’s understandable why.

Now, some may point towards a certain Yves Bissouma and how he hasn’t hit it off in north London following his summer transfer.

Perhaps that is a warning? Either way, Mac Allister should do the right thing and stay at Brighton until the end of the season before making a call on his future.

Yes, his stock is pretty high now, but if he continues to perform in the Premier League after his World Cup triumph, then it will only take his game up a few more levels.
