Aston Villa fans have been left less than impressed by Gareth Southgate’s comments about Jack Grealish at his press conference, which was covered by Hayters TV.
Grealish was in wonderful form last night, as he scooped up the Man of the Match award on his full England debut against Wales.
The Villa man set up England’s first goal of the game with a pin-point cross to Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
But when asked about Grealish’s performance after the game, Southgate opted to speak more about Mount.
“Very pleased with him, I’m sure he’ll be delighted to have had his first start,” Southgate said, at his press conference.
“Mount coming on in a similar position, again I thought he had an excellent impact on the game. He presses so well and he moves the ball so quickly.”
The comments have not gone down well with Villa fans, who think that Southgate has a real issue praising their playmaker.
In fairness to Southgate he was more effusive with his praise of Grealish on his television interviews.
However, it has been a surprise just how long it has taken Grealish to break into England’s set-up.
The Villa man is surely in the Three Lions’ squad to stay now though.
And a few more performance of the quality he put in last night will surely secure his place at Euro 2020 next summer.
