Speaking on the Wrighty’s House Podcast, Ian Wright has been full of praise for Takehiro Tomiyasu after yet another solid showing for the Gunners.
The Japan international joined the north London club on deadline day and at the time he wasn’t seen as a signing that would necessarily change the Gunners’ fortunes.
Indeed, Sky Sports’ Kaveh Solhekol claimed that an agent had text him questioning Tomiyasu’s ability, but Wright believes the defender has silenced all of his critics after just three matches.
What’s been said?
Wright was raving over Tomiyasu.
“You know what. Massive, massive big up to Tomiyasu. Did you see that doing the rounds of Kaveh Solhekol on Sky? The disrespect showed when we signed him, and he still hasn’t been beaten in a duel, he’s still looking awesome, and I watch and I think, it’s happening, something is happening,” Wright said.

Signing of the summer
Arsenal were the biggest spenders in the summer transfer window and Tomiyasu may be the best signing they made.
At the age of just 22, the defender has a lot of room to grow, and he’s already looking like an absolute star at this level.
As Wright says, it’s hard to remember a player ever beating him in a duel, and the fact that he was signed for just £17m is the icing on the cake.
Tomiyasu looks to be a fantastic defender and if he can keep up this level of form Arsenal will continue to climb the table.
