Luke Shaw admitted Manchester United icon David Beckham is the one former England player he would have in the current squad.
Speaking on the Three Lions YouTube channel, Shaw was asked to select one ex-England star he’d want in Gareth Southgate’s side.
So many incredible talents have pulled on the famous white jersey over the years.
From the 1966 heroes, to the European Championship semi-finalists of 1996, to the ‘golden generation’, this country has produced some wonderful individuals.
But one man rose above them all when Shaw made his final decision.
“I’ve always been a massive, massive fan of Beckham and I think he’s always been one of my heroes growing up,” said the United defender.

“I meet up at the World Cup in 2014 and I was so star struck.
“It was unbelievable meeting him; I couldn’t believe it. I couldn’t wait to tell everyone I met him.
“If there was someone I’d want to have in this England squad and to play with and to have around the place, it would be David Beckham.”
Brilliant Beckham
Shaw is probably not the only one who dreams of playing alongside Beckham.
United’s fabled no.7 rose to fame whilst strutting his stuff at Old Trafford before hitting up the international scene.

He was named England captain in 2000 by Graham Taylor before Sven-Goran Eriksson reassigned him the role a year later.
It was a position he remained in until 2006, stepping down as skipper shortly after the World Cup.
His national team achievements never quite matched those he managed for the Red Devils.
In 388 appearances, he scored 81 goals, provided 101 assists and won six Premier League titles.
