Manchester City will reportedly not allow Ederson Moraes and Gabriel Jesus to travel to Brazil for the upcoming international break.
According to the Telegraph, the Premier League champions will retain the Brazilian duo next week when players join up with their national teams.
Liverpool have taken a similar approach, with Alisson Becker and Fabinho also not being released by the club to fly to South America. Mohamed Salah will also stay on Merseyside rather than play for Egypt.
Due to the United Kingdom’s rules on travelling during the COVID-19 pandemic, many players in the Premier League will likely stay with their clubs rather than travel across the globe to compete in the international break.
Indeed, there are already rumours that the South American football association CONMEBOL will refuse countries to call up Premier League players for next week’s FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
With City retaining Ederson and Jesus, there is a good chance that other Premier League clubs will follow suit. Argentina have already called up two players from both Aston Villa and Tottenham.
