Chris Sutton has accused Dele Alli and Harry Winks of ‘falling apart’ for Tottenham Hotspur on BT Sport.

Failing to impress

Alli and Winks were both included in Tottenham’s team to face Vitesse, but neither of the out-of-favour pair enhanced their chances of starting more regularly.

Spurs were beaten 1-0 in Holland last night, and their performance in the contest was extremely poor.

Alli and Winks were far from the only two Tottenham players to perform below their expected level.

However, the pair were two of the more experienced players on the pitch for Spurs last night – and they never looked like carrying the side.

Winks was fairly anonymous in midfield, while Alli failed to create any chances for his teammates or threaten the Vitesse goal.

It rather sums up how the pair have been performing of late, and Sutton was less than impressed with the two former England internationals.

“I was really disappointed with the likes of Harry Winks and Dele Alli. Two players we’ve seen in the past, but for whatever reason their games are falling apart at this moment in time,” he said.

“They really have to buck their ideas up, but the question is do they have a future at Tottenham? It’s a massive disappointment, but they weren’t the only ones.”

No complaints

Alli can have few complaints at not starting for Tottenham right now.

Under Jose Mourinho he was, perhaps, harshly treated but Nuno gave him an opportunity at the start of this term, which he has failed to take.

Winks, meanwhile, cannot get a run of games right now, with Oliver Skipp pushing ahead of him in the pecking order.

It may now be time for Winks to consider his future ahead of the January transfer window, when Spurs will surely be open to offers.
