Neil Lennon told talkSPORT (22/06/21 at 12:15 pm) that Everton are a ‘massive club’ after being asked about the job by Jim White.
The Radio host asked the Northern Irishman that he ‘wouldn’t have to think twice’ about the vacant Everton role to which he responded ‘no’.
There’s no way Lennon would manage a club like Everton, even though he had huge success at Celtic, because his only stint in English football was when he managed Bolton in the Championship, and that ended in disaster.
But Lennon still thinks a club the size of Everton are ‘underperforming’ and they have ‘massive potential’.
Jim White asked: “You wouldn’t have to be asked twice, would you, Neil?”
To which he responded: “No, it’s a massive club, with massive potential and they are underperforming.”
Well, it was that ‘massive potential’ that lured Carlo Ancelotti to Merseyside and those in the Goodison Park boardroom will be hoping they can attract an equally bigger name to be his replacement.
Whilst Tottenham, Crystal Palace and Wolves knew at the end of the season that they were searching for a new boss.
Those in Everton colours didn’t, and as a result, haven’t been able to plan and prepare as well as them.
Now, Tottenham may well be making a mess of their manager search because it’s been two months since they sacked Jose Mourinho.
But the Toffees will be hoping they don’t go down the same road.
