Charly Musonda has labelled Celtic as a ‘massive’ club with a ‘massive’ following, as he told Football Focus on BBC One.
If there is ever a traffic jam of talent at a club then it’s Chelsea, who are stacked to the top with prospects from across the globe.
In 2018, Celtic, who had Brendan Rodgers in charge at the time, opted to bring in Musonda from the Stamford Bridge ranks.
Whilst he struggled during his time at Parkhead and his spell was cut short, it would end up being one of the very last few times he would run on the green turf.
Musonda suffered a posterior cruciate ligament injury whilst on loan at Vitesse Arnhem, and he didn’t know it at the time, but eventually, he would go four years without playing back-to-back matches.
And from being a rising teenager, he was staring at the abyss and being told he only had a 20% chance of playing.
But the Zambian trickster, 24, has seen past all that and is now back on track in his professional career.
And when discussing his career, thus far, Musonda has nothing but praise for the Celtic fans and his former manager, Rodgers, despite his unforgettable time at the club.
“I went to Celtic to get some minutes and try to play,” said Musonda.
“Obviously, Celtic’s a massive club. They have a massive following and, for me, the main thing was to be able to work with Brendan Rodgers.
“He’s a great manager and I learned a lot from him, so that was a great (experience).”
It a testament to Musonda’s character that he has been able to keep himself sane during these troublesome years.
In normal circumstances, it’s difficult enough as it is coming back from a ten or so month injury lay-off, but to be out for four years and then to work your way back is something truly special from the Chelsea man.
