Andy Townsend has said on talkSPORT (8:41am, March 13, 2023) that the return of Gabriel Jesus is massive for Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal in their quest to win the Premier League title this season.

The former Chelsea player believes that now that Jesus is back to full fitness, it will enhance Arsenal’s chances of winning the title this campaign.

The 25-year-old Brazil international striker came on as a substitute for Arsenal in the second half of the London derby against Fulham this past weekend.

Jesus had been on the sidelines since the 2022 Qatar World Cup when he suffered an injury while playing for Arsenal.

Arsenal have done well in the absence of the striker, who joined the Gunners from defending champions Manchester City in the summer of 2022.

Townsend said: “That was the real bonus, the last 20 minutes for Gabriel Jesus to come on, could have scored actually, could have scored. He had one reasonably presentable chance. So him being back is massive at the stage as well.”

HITC View: Gabriel Jesus recovery a big boost for Arsenal

In our view, Gabriel Jesus being back from injury for the final weeks and months of the season is massive for Arsenal in their quest to win the Premier League title this season.

The striker was playing well for Arsenal before his injury.

The Gunners did well in the absence of the 25-year-old.

And now Arteta will have the option to use the Brazilian again.
