Speaking to Sky Sports, Andy Cole has been discussing Newcastle United and some of their January signings.
The Magpies have been ridiculously good since the January transfer window opened. They’re unbeaten in the Premier League in 2022, and the threat of relegation now looks like a distant memory.
Cole believes that Newcastle will be fine, and he claims that Kieran Trippier has been a massive signing for the Magpies, stating that the right-back set the tone at Newcastle.
What’s been said?
Cole gave his verdict on Newcastle and Trippier.
“Yeah, I think they will be comfortable now, they’re winning games and that’s what football is about. There’s a big difference and some of the players they’ve brought in have worked really well. Trippier was massive, him being the first one to come in set the tone, his experience and what he can do, unfortunately, he’s injured now, but looking at him and the players they’ve got, they’ll be ok,” Cole said.

Set the tone
Trippier may be injured and unable to contribute on the pitch, but as Cole said, his arrival set the tone for what was to come at Newcastle.
Trippier’s arrival made the rest of the squad sit up and take notice and it showed everyone else in the league just how serious Newcastle were about becoming a force in this league.
The squad has stepped up since Trippier’s arrival, and they look transformed in recent weeks.
Fingers crossed the right-back can get back playing sooner rather than later.
