Massimo Luongo seems to be happy in his current role at Queens Park Rangers.
Queens Park Rangers midfielder Massimo Luongo has suggested to SBS that manager Ian Holloway is using him the way he should be.
Rangers boss Holloway has recently deployed the 24-year-old as a holding midfielder, which he seems to enjoy.
The Australia international midfielder has suggested that playing under Holloway has helped him explore another aspect of his game.
“Every manager I’ve had thinks I’m an attacking player, that I can’t defend, or I don’t want to defend, which is just completely false,” Luongo told SBS.
“I’ve just been in teams where they don’t ask me to defend. It’s good, I’m clearing that up that I can do both.
“So I’ve been getting on the ball and making us tick a little bit, or trying to. He says that’s where he sees me.”
It seems that Luongo is enjoying his new role under Holloway, which underlines just how good the QPR manager is.
Holloway was appointed the Rangers boss in November, and he has already identified how to get the most out of the Australia international.
Luongo has scored one goal and created 27 chances in 28 Championship appearances for QPR so far this season.
Rangers will not end up in the top six of the Championship this season, but they should be aiming for the playoffs during the 2017-18 campaign and Luongo will be a key figure in that quest.
