Queens Park Rangers midfielder Massimo Luongo failed to make an impact at Tottenham Hotspur.
Queens Park Rangers midfielder Massimo Luongo has told The Set Pieces that Andre Villas-Boas killed him at Tottenham Hotspur.
The 24-year-old was on the books of Tottenham from 2011 until 2013 when he moved to Swindon Park.
During his time at Spurs, Luongo could manage to make just a single competitive appearance – in the League Cup.
The Australia international midfielder has suggested that it was Villas-Boas who ended his chance on being a success at Tottenham.
The Portuguese boss was in charge of the North London outfit from the summer of 2012 until December 2013.
“I think just the players in my position that were brought in under [Villas-Boas] and the old manager killed me a little bit,” Luongo told The Set Pieces. “But that’s normal.
“Then I went on loan for two or three months at Ipswich, and when I came back I was probably even further back than before.”
Luongo did well during his time at Swindon and earned the move to QPR in 2015.
The Australian has established himself as an important figure in the Rangers team.
The London outfit are playing in the Championship at the moment and are aiming to finish in the playoffs.
Luongo is only 24 years of age, and there is a lot to come from the former Tottenham man.
Spurs are fifth in the Premier League table at the moment with 24 points from 13 matches.
