Leeds United are currently on the search for a new manager after the departure of Garry Monk. Plenty of names – such as Aitor Karanka, Claudio Ranieri and Michael Laudrup – have all been mentioned but Leeds would do well to look at a name they once considered in the Massimo Cellino era.
In September 2014 Leeds were linked with handing the managerial role to former Brighton boss Oscar Garcia.

Leeds had just sacked Dave Hockaday and the Guardian reported at the time that while the Spaniard loved the idea of working at a historic club like Leeds, he was cautious of working under Cellino. He ended up at Watford, albeit briefly, instead and Leeds appointed Darko Milanic – another disaster.

Since his spell at Watford came to an end Garcia has forged quite the reputation in charge of Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg.
He has led the Austrian side to two domestic doubles in a row, although there success is comparable to that of Celtic in Scotland.

But he worked well at Brighton and Leeds would be making a bright call if they decided to make a move for Garcia again three years on this summer, under new ownership.
