Leeds United played out a 1-1 draw with Burnley at Elland Road in the Championship on Saturday.
Leeds United chairman Massimo Cellino has told BBC Radio Leeds that he was proud of his team at the weekend..
The Whites kicked off their 2015-16 Championship campaign with a 1-1 draw with Burnley at home on Saturday afternoon.
After a goalless first half at Elland Road, Italian striker Mirco Antenucci broke the deadlock in the 83rd minute with a wonderful curling left-footed effort from 25 yards for the West Yorkshire outfit.
However, visiting Burnley restored parity just three minutes later when substitute Sam Vokes headed home debutant Tendayi Darikwa’s right-wing cross.
Following the match, Leeds chief Cellino said that Burnley were scared of Leeds, and that made him proud.
“Very much,” Cellino told BBC Radio Leeds when asked if Burnley were scared of Leeds. “They just looked as if they did not want us to play football, and that is something that makes me proud.
“It means that the coach of Burnley understands about football. They know that it was a dangerous game to let us play. Everybody was worried about Burnley, Burnley were more worried about us.”
Over the course of the 90 minutes, hosts Leeds had 49% of the possession, took 15 shots of which four were on target, and earned four corners.
Burnley, who got relegated from the Premier League at the end of last season, had 51% of the possession, took 10 shots of which four were on target and earned four corners.
