Juventus beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 at Wembley in the Champions League last night.
Juventus boss Max Allegri addressed the media in the aftermath of his side’s come from behind victory against Tottenham in the Champions League last night, and highlighted the main difference between the two sides, as quoted by Italian media outlet Calcio Mercato.
It could be argued that Spurs were actually the better side over the two legs, but Juve had that extra nouse and experience about them when it came down to crunch time, and eventually prevailed through to the quarter-finals of Europe’s premier competition.
The Old Lady have reached the final of the Champions League in two out of the last three seasons, so their experience at the very highest level is second to none.
When speaking to reporters, Allegri highlighted his side’s nouse when reaching the latter stages of Europe’s premier competition as the main difference between Juve and Tottenham, as quoted by Calcio Mercato:
“The main difference between us and Tottenham is that Juve are used to playing games like this. We play with more calmness but that does not mean Spurs are not a great European team. There are no secrets, only hard work and the desire to continue improving.”
Spurs will surely learn from last night’s bitterly disappointing experience at Wembley, and it could prove to be invaluable to their evolution as a team in the future.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side must look at how the Juventus players handled the game in the final 20 minutes, after they had taken the lead, and at least try and take some positives out of what would have been an extremely painful night for the players and the fans.
