Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount is reportedly ready to demand a new contract worth £300,000-a-week, with Liverpool believed to be interested in signing the England international.
According to the Telegraph, the 23-year-old playmaker has set his demands to the Blues as contract talks continue to stall between Mount and Chelsea, with the midfielder setting the figure that would make the Cobham academy graduate one of the highest-paid players at the club.
Starring for England in their 6-2 win against Iran in their 2022 FIFA World Cup opener, Mount is set for a breakout tournament with the Three Lions as Gareth Southgate’s side look like early favourites to win the competition. Yet despite impressing in Qatar, Chelsea would be foolish to hand the youngster a £300,000-a-week contract.
Yet the decision could cost the Blues Mount entirely, with the Guardian recently reporting that Liverpool are keeping tabs on the 23-year-old, with Juventus also interested in a move for the England star if Chelsea fail to sign Mount to a new contract in the coming days.

Indeed, whilst it’s unlikely that Mount will find a club that will match his £300,000-a-week wage demands beyond Chelsea, the decision to make such a high price could push the midfielder towards leaving Stamford Bridge, much to the enjoyment of Liverpool.
With midfield a position the Reds have to strengthen in 2023, Mount could be an excellent addition as well as an ideal player for Jurgen Klopp to develop and morph into his own image, with the Chelsea star perfect to lead Liverpool’s midfield into the next generation.
Liverpool have to sign Mount if he fails to agree to new Chelsea contract

Liverpool’s midfield is in desperate need of an overhaul next summer, with the likes of James Milner, Jordan Henderson and Thiago Alcantara all in need of long-term replacements. And if Mount fails to sign a new deal with Chelsea, with Reds must do all they can to bring the England star to Anfield.
Versatile, technically outstanding and homegrown, Mount ticks a lot of boxes that Liverpool fans want from a midfield signing. And with contract talks with Chelsea stalling, a perfect opportunity could soon be on the cards for the Merseyside giants to swoop in for the playmaker..
