Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Ryan Mason has suggested he’s happy everyone is focusing on Harry Kane.
Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Ryan Mason hinted to FourFourTwo that he’s happy everyone is focusing on his teammate Harry Kane.
Mason has had a decent season in Tottenham’s midfield, rising to prominence under Mauricio Pochettino who has made him a key feature in his team across multiple competitions.
However, he appears happy that Kane has grabbed most of the headlines as he’s become the club’s top scorer this year.
“Harry deserves all of the credit coming his way because he’s worked so hard. He’s been given the opportunity and he’s taken it. But you might be right; maybe I do enjoy all of the fuss being about him. I can go about my business; get on with things,” said Mason.
Mason is a very modest and down to earth character who seems to thrive when he doesn’t have the extra added pressure of all of the focus being on him personally.
He can get his head down, work hard and go about his business as he looks to make the Tottenham midfield tick, with the attention falling onto someone else.
If any side Tottenham comes up against takes their focus away from Mason and places it onto another player, the midfielder has the skillset needed to make that look like a very poor decision.
Mason is going to be challenged regardless next season because he would have lost the surprise factor that he had when he first came into the team.
If he can stay effective in the face of different challenges and quietly improve, then the structure and shape of Tottenham’s midfield is going to benefit as a result.
