Mason Holgate would have reason to be angry, if Everton do go out and buy Reece Oxford.

Sky Sports have reported how Everton are keen to sign Oxford, who appears to be eager to move away from West Ham United.

Oxford is chasing more regular first-team football, and Everton are said to be prepared to offer him that at Goodison Park.

However, if Oxford does arrive, Holgate could be forgiven for asking questions over his own opportunities at Everton.

Holgate has impressed whenever he has been given a chance in Everton’s first-team, and he appears to have a very bright future ahead of him.

Indeed Ronald Koeman really rated the youngster, and went on record to suggest that Holgate had all the capabilities required to turn into an excellent centre-back for Everton, as reported by the Liverpool Echo.

Oxford is also a bright talent, but by bringing the West Ham man in, they would be putting him in direct competition with Holgate.

With Marco Silva already looking to strengthen his defence, the last thing Holgate needs is for more obstacles to block his route into the senior squad.

And if Oxford does arrive at Goodison Park, Holgate could be forgiven for asking questions about whether Silva will be willing to offer him chances this term.
